In line with the Scouting Association guidance we have returned to face to face scouting.
As part of our return to scouting procedure we want to share with you our risk assessment and approach for the face to face meetings. These are in line with the Scouting rules and approved by the District executive. Please feel free to comment on anything you feel is unsafe.
Present Alert level and restrictions
This means: Section meetings can take place outdoors and indoors. Limited small group residential activities may take place.
How we will run the sessions
Parents are not allowed beyond the scout hut gates and only uniformed leaders are permitted to run the sessions.
The young people will be asked to disinfect their hands on arrival after being dropped off.
We have ensued that the activities meet the required social distance rules and are in line with the scouting procedures. Equipment will be cleaned and games and activities designed to minimise contact between young people and leaders.
The toilets will be cleaned after each young person has used them and only one young person can use the facilities at the same time.
What you need to do:
There Is plenty of space between the gate at the end of Community Close and the Scout HQ gates, you will be asked to maintain social distancing upon arrival and when leaving.
If you arrive in advance of the leaders please wait in Community Close or on the grassed area, maintaining suitable social distancing. The same is asked at collection when we will release the young people when you are visible to us, provided you are within the grassed area.
Please do not crowd around the gates.
If you need to contact a leader we ask you either email or text.
If you are under quarantine or are showing any of the Covid 19 symptoms you must not attend the session and follow the Government advice.
Prior to attending you will be invited by OSM to confirm attendance. By agreeing to attend you are confirming that your child is not showing any Covid19 symptoms.
The wearing of face masks by the young people is at their own discretion but will not be discouraged. At the moment, Scouts and Explorers are required to wear face masks at meetings. Leaders do not need to wear a facemask when delivering activities but must do so in other situations.
